Our Story

JazakAllahu Khyran for stopping by! Proud Little Muslims was founded by myself, Umm Laith. I'm a mother who grew up not seeing myself in children's books and then faced the same problem with books for my son. As an educator and researcher who is passionate about well-being, the repercussions of underrepresentation and unauthentic inclusion frustrated me. The message received by our children when they don't see themselves in literature is that their story does not matter.

So, Proud Little Muslims was born, to bring about authentic, representative stories to nurture little Muslim readers' minds. We created a meaningful, personalised story which lets children be proud of their identity, discover the world around them and develop empathy, curiosity and confidence.
